This fun dance camp for ages 6~11 includes learning various dance styles such as

jazz | hip hop | contemporary | yoga | choreography, and creating original dances!

Our 2024 YOUTH SUMMER DANCE CAMP is designed by Lillian Barbeito, a distinguished graduate of The Juilliard School with over 30 years of experience in dance education. Lillian, a seasoned professional, takes immense pride in her role as a parent to two CUSD students and eagerly seizes the opportunity to share the magic of dance with the Monterey County youth.


Furthermore, we are thrilled to introduce Sarah Cerami, our new faculty member who will be provide instruction in various styles of dance.

SUMMER DANCE CAMP DIRECTOR

LILLIAN BARBEITO brings more than 35 years of dance experience as an artist, producer, director, and educator to her roles as Founder of Carmel Dance Festival. and Director of DANCE at Hidden Valley, During the course of her career, she has been a performer with contemporary dance companies, the co-founder of a world-renowned non-profit organization, and an internationally recognized, certified teacher of Countertechnique. 

​

Lillian is a graduate of The Juilliard School, was professor of dance at Loyola Marymount University for over 10 years, and served as Cultural Ambassador of the USA to Isreal, Jordan, and Algeria. 

​

She teaches ballet, pointe, modern, Countertechnique, choreography, improvisation, contact/partnering, and mentors aspiring dancers on their summer study and collage audition journies.

Cerami

SUMMER DANCE CAMP INSTRUCTOR

SARAH CERAMI is a Philadelphia, PA native who recently relocated to Monterey, CA with her husband. Sarah earned a BFA in Dance Performance at Temple University in 2015. During her time at Temple, Sarah worked with many contemporary teaching artists, including Kun Yang Lin, Jillian Harris, Shaness Kemp, Beau Hancock, and Laura Katz Rizzo, and also performed in works by Kyle Abraham and Larry Keigwin.

 

After graduation, Sarah was invited to participate in the Dance Journey Program with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel, under the direction of Danielle Ohn. Upon her return to the states, Sarah danced for Philadelphia-based companies Project Moshen, Putty Dance Project, and other freelance artists.

 

In her 10 years as a dance teacher, Sarah has taught hundreds of students ages 2-18, with a passionate for creative movement, jazz, and modern. In 2021, Sarah became the Dance Director at Encore Performing Arts in Cameron, NC.

 

As dance director, Sarah organized and planned annual recitals and community performances, summer camps, teacher trainings, and staff workshops. Currently, Sarah is finishing up her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree, with the hope to be a fully licensed Physical Therapist in August 2025. It is a true honor to work with Lillian Barbeito on Carmel Dance Festival's inaugural Youth Summer Dance Camp; where she can share her passion with Monterey County families.

2024 YOUTH SUMMER DANCE CAMP POLICIES

CLASSROOM REGULATIONS:

  • Bring a water bottle and snack every day.

  • No food or drinks (other than water) permitted in the dance studio. Snacks will be enjoyed outside. 

  • Be on time.

  • Follow instructions.

  • Do you personal best.

  • Be kind and respectful to yourself and others. 


DRESS CODE:

  • leggings, fitted shorts, or sweatpants

  • leotard, tank top, or fitted t-shirt

  • hair pulled off neck and face (ponytail or braids for long hair)

  • clean socks

  • clean tennis shoes (for hip hop only)


REFUNDS:

Tuition for Carmel Dance Festival's 2024 Youth Summer Dance Camp is non-refundable. No exceptions.

PICK UP:

We have an on-time pickup policy. If you are 5-10 minutes late, you will be fined $10. If you are over 10 minutes late, you will be fined $25.
