Commissions

In addition to presenting extraordinary existing works, Carmel Dance Festival commissions new works by emerging and established choreographers. 

The Wisdom Project with Clementine Deluy

 This creation for dancers aged 50 and better was originally scheduled for the fall of 2021. It was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Check back in 2025 for new dates.

Love Struck

In February of 2024 our resident choreographer Javon "Ja'Moon Jones" created a duet for Ballare Carmel the premiered at Hidden Valley Music Seminars during CDF's For the Love of Dance Valentine's themed show.

 

Mother, Surrender 

In January of 2024, our resident choreographer Javon "Ja'Moon Jones" created a work for over 20 dancers during our 2nd Annual Dance & Choreography Fellowship Program.

"Here Lies" by James Gregg

In the winter of 2022, Carmel   Dance Festival commissioned  Los Angeles  -based choreographer James Gregg to make a new work for Ballare   Carmel to Bach's masterpiece Chaconne, played by violinist  Edwin Huizinga. 

New Work  by Jennifer Archibald

In the spring of 2022, Carmel   Dance Festival will commission  Brooklyn  -based choreographer Jennifer Archibald to make a new work for Ballare   Carmel.

"The Outer Gate" by Noelle Kayser

In the summer of 2022, Carmel   Dance Festival will commission  Chicago  -based choreographer Noelle Kayser to make a new work for Ballare   Carmel.

"Just   Don't End Up In The Pine Cone, Honey." by   Ihsan Rustum

In the fall of 2021, Carmel Dance Festival commissioned Zurich-based choreographer Ihsan Rustem to make a work for our resident company, Ballare Carmel at Hidden Valley on Saturday, September 18th.
